PLANS FOR MONTREAL AND BRUSSELS. International symposium on densification, urban planning and heritage
The theme of the symposium “Montréal et Bruxelles en projet” (Plans for Montreal and Brussels) is the social, economic and urban scope of urban planning in the urban densification process. Comparing Montreal and Brussels creates a unique opportunity for those urban planners and stakeholders interested in the layout and development of their cities to discuss these issues. The theme of this first symposium tackles urban planning and densification in Montreal and Brussels, focusing on three main areas:
- What can we learn from ways to create density from urban planning by comparing Montreal and Brussels approaches in the short, medium and long term?
- What are the innovations or potential innovations in terms of urban planning tools to guide and control the process of urban densification?
- What are the issues and the innovations shared by Montreal and Brussels in the creation of density that could lead to the establishment of a platform for discussion about cooperation and research in the longer term?
ASSAR took part in this symposium that brought together a number of different academic and operational speakers from Montreal and Brussels.
