SITE START-UP – AILE 1000 – CLINIQUE SAINT-PIERRE IN OTTIGNIES

Located at the heart of Brabant Wallon, the Saint Pierre hospital is constantly evolving, which recently entailed an expansion consisting of new wings to accommodate the emergency, endoscopy and gynaecology departments.

With a view to offering an improved quality of service to its patients, the hospital management entrusted to Assar Architects the design of a new administrative building, in order to free up additional space for the subsequent enhancement of consultation services.

The programme thus combines within the same entity all the administrative departments required to ensure good management of the hospital complex. Its aim is to bring together management personnel and to reinforce synergies.

Located within the existing complex, the future administrative centre creates a new articulation between the new visitors’ car park and the entrance to the hospital itself.

Given this location, the architects have designed a building of immaculate white on a triangular floor plan, entirely in fluid and rounded lines to avoid any conflict in visualising the access points to the hospital complex. The new building accordingly has two entrances, one closely allied to the hospital and the other to the avenue Reine Fabiola.

At the heart of this future building on 3 levels, a central hall over the entire height distributes the different administrative departments, with easy access, placing the emphasis on transparency and the quality of exchanges between individuals.

On the ground floor, some of the space allocations are accessible to external visitors, including in particular, a multi-use room, intended for small lectures or presentations of a medical or scientific nature, for example.

With a view to preserving the current green environment, the shape of the building provides a high quality landscaped integration with the outskirts of the neighbouring residential district.

The office building will offer about 3150 m² of space with very specific environmental intentions in the choice of materials and in its low energy consumption properties (passive building criterion, triple glazed wooden window frames, solar protection, omnipresent natural light, and ventilated non-enclosed car parks underneath the building).

The construction site started up in October 2015 and these new spaces should be ready to hand over in March 2017.
