Summer intership at Assar Architects

This summer, 7 students took part in an internship organised at ASSAR offices. With Guy Standaert, together they focused on the issue of the urban divide.

Each reflection, design, and plan generated planning and architectural solutions intended to absorb the stigma of infrastructures designed for the automobile or the railway.

The urban development of the 60s that was dedicated to the car, often caused traumas in the heart of the city. New forms of mobility enable us to envisage a degree of reflection with a view to repairing the urban fabric to the benefit of the inhabitants.

Whatever the ring road, viaducts or other railway cut into the city, each time the observation was the same : a rupture in the continuity of local districts, or insurmountable obstacles such as fencing or sources of disqualification for construction.

The dynamism and enthusiasm of the students involved in the dialogue with ASSAR architects enabled rich pathways for the future to be mined from this experience.

Huge thanks to future architects Victoria Moulin, Grégoire Nelis, Anna Vincenza, Annick Keoseyan Padilla, Louis Feugere, Mathilde Habousha and Jean d’Ursel, who demonstrated to us their passion for architecture. ASSAR wishes them all a magnificent final year.
