LES JARDINS DE JETTE

LES JARDINS DE JETTE

Located on one of the plots on the wooded 15 ha site that was the subject of a master plan established by the office during the ’90s, the new project must reconcile its concept with the existing guidelines for the district, as it has fundamentally evolved in relation to the initial programme and architectural style.

Three buildings have therefore been built around a central garden. The open areas have been orchestrated to open up the space as far as possible and thus to create a pleasant ambiance. The relationship between this new ensemble and its built environment is managed by its choice of location and scales. These are designed to conserve a sense of cohesive rapport in scale with the neighbouring constructions. The location of buildings is modulated by the inclusion of sufficient recessing to enable the creation of attractive visual perspectives. Finally, the pursuit of harmony is translated by the choice of materials on the façade. The facing is in blocks of cleaved concrete, like those on the nearby office buildings previously created by ASSAR. Regularity was key for the design of the façades, thereby conserving the unity of the overall structures. Variations in rhythm are however introduced through the specific use of wood and the profiles of the balconies.
