LES TERRASSES DE VAL DUCHESSE

LES TERRASSES DE VAL DUCHESSE

The project consists of an ensemble of apartment buildings, semi-detached houses and prestige three-façade houses. Even from the outline sketch stage, the office faced the challenge of two major constraints that would condition the implementation of the project. This involved first of all the commitment to respecting the topography of the terrain. The second constraint concerns the planning provisions that impose a limited footprint on buildings in order to preserve the environment.

The result is an ensemble of prestigious apartment buildings of relatively modest stature, arranged on 3 to 4 levels. The configuration is designed in order to maximise the natural sunlight for each residential unit. The planting already in situ, which has been very largely retained, has been supplemented by some new landscaping. The upper part of the site is occupied by a group of houses aligned along the Promenade Verte. The architectural vocabulary of the houses and apartment buildings is shared. The authors of the project have produced a classical architecture, which contributes a character with a charm its own to the overall grouping. The colours and materials are inspired by the neighbouring constructions of the Château de Val Duchesse.
