UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL TIVOLI

UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL TIVOLI

Created in 1976 by the Société d’Architectes HOET + MINNE, now ASSAR ARCHITECTS, following the concept of "the hospital tree", the C.H.U. Tivoli revolutionized the international hospital world. From 1998, the hospital began a reflection in order to revitalize its activity. The first emergency was the compliance and relocation of neonatalogy in order to create space in the medico-technical levels. Then, at the same time, ASSAR conducted the studies for radiotherapy and day oncology. The C.H.U. Tivoli did not have a linear accelerator, only a bunker for a cobalt bomb was present in existing services. Too small to accommodate an accelerator, it was proposed an extension only on the ground floor of block B to implement a new bunker and a room for the stimulator.

After various works undertaken in 2004, neonatalogy was performed in 2006 and radiotherapy was performed in 2007. In 2012, ASSAR was contacted by the management to review the feasibility and assess the cost of the treatment. the addition of a second bunker for the installation of a second accelerator. The file has been submitted to the Walloon Region and is waiting for subsidies. These are delayed by the current large-scale project underway on the site. In addition to programming, architecture and coordination missions, the C.H.U. Tivoli also entrusted ASSAR with the mobile equipment files: medical equipment, hospital equipment, current furniture and signage.

In 1976: construction of a new general hospital with 537 beds. 20 years later: an update to the master plan, renovation work on the building and construction of a new cobalt bunker, a pacemaker room and a new day clinic.
