When architecture becomes a subject to learn from and reveals students’ creativity
When architecture becomes a subject to learn from and reveals students’ creativity

Design and construction of an annex building to an existing school, including a music room, a visual arts room, as well as additional facilities and support spaces. The architecture draws inspiration from the existing school building, featuring the same façade materials and a patio for outdoor activities.
Inside, another story unfolds: making the space itself a learning experience. Architecture and building systems thus become educational material through explanatory panels distributed throughout the building, serving as learning tools. Students can explore the space in a guided way and satisfy their curiosity on topics such as energy, circularity, physics, technology, and more.

For the art room, the design is deliberately minimal on the floors and walls, but fully expressed in the ceiling: a recessed volume highlighted with a dark tone, crossed by colored ducts. Each duct, associated with a specific color, is accompanied by panels indicating what it carries (air, water, electricity, etc.), thus transforming building systems into an educational and playful element.
Acoustic baffles and lighting fixtures float in the room like clouds, embodying the abundance of creative ideas that will take shape in this space. The lighting design is intended to be diffuse, soft, and uniform to provide flexibility in arranging the tables. The suspended fixtures are equipped with high visual comfort diffusers, and the integrated LED sources offer a neutral color temperature and high color rendering to ensure optimal color accuracy, essential for an art room. In addition to the suspended lighting in the central area, symmetrical and asymmetrical recessed fixtures around the perimeter help animate the walls of the room.
Objective: to create a space that serves as a backdrop for the creativity of children and adolescents, while also providing them with the ability to easily display their work. For this purpose, magnetic panels are installed in the room.
For the music room: a recessed ceiling volume punctuated by longitudinal acoustic baffles that reveal the building systems above. Between the acoustic baffles, lighting fixtures are suspended, providing diffuse and uniform general lighting with high visual comfort. The walls feature micro-perforated acoustic panels enhanced with an origami-inspired pattern. Colors seem to float like notes suspended in the air, harmonizing with the regular rhythm established on the ceiling.
Built-in oak-colored furniture creates a soft and warm atmosphere. In addition to the suspended lighting fixtures in the central part of the room, symmetrical and asymmetrical recessed fixtures around the perimeter help animate the walls.
