Assar has always been ahead of the game when it comes to using the latest design software, both in terms of the relevance of 3D used for many years now, and in terms of the performance of production methods. This has been possible thanks to a comprehensive understanding of the tools and software available, but also the performance and skills of the people using this software in our office.

Didier Hoffman, our CAD expert, has always been concerned with choosing the best software for 3D design, and fully understands the importance of advanced training for the individuals who use the software within the 3D team.

Assar has been using BIM for several years now, with Revit produced by Autodesk.

On Wednesday 9 July, the Ikea project in Mons was officially presented at the Town Hall. This retail park will be developed on the site of the “Grands Prés” with a surface area of nearly 35,000m², of which 26,000m² will be for retail. Work is due to begin at the “Grands Prés” in autumn of 2014, and the Swedish store is set to open its doors at the end of 2015.

The ConnectImmo – Belgacom Group’s “Lebeau Sablon” site has been acquired by the property developer Allfin, working closely with ASSAR ARCHITECTS.

The Lebeau Sablon project on the Place de la Justice benefits from an exceptional location in the Belgian capital and is about 35.000 m². High-quality improvement and revitalisation of the site were essential. The collaboration between ASSAR ARCHITECTS and Allfin quickly focused on maintaining the existing load-bearing structure and building outline in order to create an urban project fully integrated into its environment and socio-demographic and cultural fabric.

Assar is working with Thomas & Piron and AG Real Estate to develop plot 120 Anfa El Beida on the site of the former Casablanca airport. Assar has designed a high quality architectural project in keeping with the environment and providing a complex of almost 250 new homes and shops.

The new prison at Leuze-en-Hainaut was inaugurated on 20 May in the presence of 500 guests.

Two major challenges guided the design of this project for a new residential nursing and care home providing accommodation for 130 residents:

- Firstly: To design a building meeting zero energy standards, which was a first in 2009.

Work on the extension of the functional rehabilitation centre at the Léonard de Vinci hospital was completed in April this year.

The first stone of the future Chirec Delta hospital at Auderghem was laid on 25 March this year.  The idea behind the project is to bring the various Brussels Cavell and Parc Léopold hospital sites together on a single site. It will provide at least 550 beds in an ideal location.

An article on the future MontLégia Christian Hospital Complex, on which ASSAR ARCHITECTS work in association with ARTAU appeared in the Winter 2014 issue of the magazine “Architecture Hospitalière”.
